Patented Testing Capabilities: Batteries Under Test
To protect the battery case and the environment from the immense stresses that can occur from a battery fire, various materials are used. These materials must withstand extreme temperatures as well as pressure changes and particle bombardment. Our patented testing process allows us to test materials quickly, easily and cost-effectively.
The test enables us to simulate the stresses acting on the housing during a battery fire and to provide our customers with optimum support in their subsequent material selection. The duration of the actual stress, the maximum temperature and the particle size required for the particle bombardment can be adjusted as required. The distance and angle between the test specimen and the particle outlet opening can also be set according to your specifications. In this way, all relevant parameters can be varied as required – accurately, flexibly and quickly.
Battery Impact Test
A patented test procedure enables svt to simulate the loads acting on a battery housing during a battery event. The video impressively shows how a conventional unprotected aluminium plate behaves in comparison to an aluminium plate insulated with fire protection material SAERTEX LEO® COATED FABRIC. The additional material prevents the system from burning through, thus protecting the environment from the escape of fire and hot gases.
